Can you private-label freeze-dried passion fruit from Vietnam?

Yes, from 500 kg. FruitBuys packs freeze-dried passion fruit into your own 30 g, 50 g, 100 g or 500 g foil pouches, or a custom size, with a one-line ingredient list and the nutrition data your label needs. At 500 kg that is about 10,000 pouches of 50 g, enough to test a new line in a real retail channel without committing a full container.

For a brand, passion fruit is an easy product to stand out with: the black-on-gold cube is instantly recognisable through a window pouch, and the fibre content gives the front of pack something most dried fruits cannot claim.

What does 500 kg buy you?

Pouch sizeApprox. pouches from 500 kgTypical use
30 gabout 16,600Single-serve snack, impulse shelf
50 gabout 10,000Standard snack pouch
100 gabout 5,000Sharing size, e-commerce
500 gabout 1,000Food service, bulk retail

Retail pouches are packed into 5-ply master cartons with a secondary moisture liner, typically 40–50 pouches of 50 g or 24 pouches of 100 g per carton, so your logistics team can plan pallet and distribution costs from day one.

That volume is the minimum for OEM, ODM and private-label packing. It lets you run one launch, read the sell-through, and scale to a container on the second order with the same specification. Below 500 kg, buy bulk and pack locally, or start with stock packs while your artwork is finalised.

What goes on the pack?

The ingredient line is one word long, and that is the selling point: “Passion fruit (100%)”, or “100% passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) with seeds” if your market or customer expects the format to be stated. No sugar, no carrier, no preservative. That zero-additive label puts the pouch in the healthy-snack aisle and in specialist natural-food chains, a different shelf and a different margin from sugar-infused soft dried fruit.

The mandatory particulars depend on the market: Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 for the EU, the FDA Food Labeling Guide for the US, and Arabic labelling with product registration for the UAE, arranged with your importer before the first shipment. FruitBuys supplies the product data for each: ingredient statement, origin, nutrition values, allergen status (passion fruit is not a listed allergen), lot coding and the storage line.

On the front of pack, two authorised claims are within reach on 100% seed-in product: “high fibre” in both the US and the EU, and “high in potassium” in the EU. A crunchy, tart fruit snack that also carries a legal fibre claim gives health-focused shoppers a reason to pick it over the sweeter pouches beside it. The conditions and the serving-size arithmetic are in freeze-dried passion fruit nutrition per 100 g.

Which pouch should you choose?

Aluminium-foil zip pouches are the standard, because passion fruit pulls moisture faster than almost any other freeze-dried fruit. Each pouch is soft-vacuumed with a food-grade silica gel sachet inside.

A window is worth having on passion fruit: the gold cubes and black seeds sell the pouch from two metres away. Built with a high-barrier clear film, a correctly sized silica gel sachet and a storage line that keeps it out of direct sun, a window pouch holds the same 12-month date as full foil, which keeps it acceptable to retailers that require nine to twelve months of remaining life on delivery. The barrier choice is the one that decides whether the pouch still crunches at month eleven; the film and seal checks are covered in how freeze-dried passion fruit should be packed and loaded.

What shelf life can you print?

12 months at ≤25 °C and RH ≤60% is the standard basis for the printed best-before. Product kept in cool storage at ≤18 °C and RH ≤50% holds quality for 18–24 months, which helps your inventory planning. To print a date longer than 12 months on your own retail pouch, FruitBuys can run an accelerated shelf-life study on your final pack format first, so the date on the shelf is backed by data on that exact pouch.

How long does it take from brief to shipment?

5. Nutrition panelLab panel on the commercial lot, formatted for your market3–5 working days
6. Production and packingFreeze-drying, dicing, filling and sealing20–30 days for a 20ft container after deposit
7. Pre-shipment samplePacked pouches from the lot, for your approvalCourier within 24–48 hours of packing

For a first 500 kg run, digital printing is usually the better choice: no printing cylinders to pay for, a short lead time, and the freedom to launch two or three flavours side by side. Another low-risk route is stock foil pouches with a printed label on both faces. Once sell-through is proven, move to rotogravure for container-scale repeat orders, where the cylinder cost spreads over 20,000–30,000 pouches and more and the cost per pouch falls.

The step that usually sets the launch date is artwork approval, not production. Send final artwork early, and approve the label data before the pouches are printed, so a typo never becomes 10,000 pouches.

What should you check before you sign?

This is what every brand owner should check, including with us:

  • Facility: the processing facility is named in the contract and locked for its duration, with HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC (qualified processing facility) and US FDA Facility Registration; Halal certification available on request. Any change needs written notice and a new pre-shipment sample.
  • Specification: moisture, water activity and microbiology limits written in, as set out in what moisture and water activity freeze-dried passion fruit should meet.
  • Lot coding: the code on your pouch traces back to the production lot and its COA.
  • Retained sample: kept from every lot for its full shelf life.

When is private label not the right first step?

When you need fewer than 500 kg, or your artwork and market registration are not ready. In that case, start with bulk or stock packs, test the product in your channel, and move to private label for the second order. It is cheaper to learn on a plain pouch than on 10,000 printed ones.
